LOOKING BACK: UNITED COUNTRY’S GROUNDBREAKING LEGACY IN THE 1980S
As United
Country celebrates its 100-year anniversary, we’re taking a moment to look back
at the remarkable milestones that shaped our journey over the last century. The
1980s were a defining decade—one marked by fast-paced innovation and growth
that propelled our company and the industry forward.
In 1981,
United Country made history when our first real estate catalog was formally
added to the Smithsonian Institution. The 32-page catalog, originally published
in 1928, wasn’t just a collection of property listings—it was a revolutionary
approach to marketing rural and lifestyle real estate. Its inclusion in the
Smithsonian’s significant business innovations collection honored it as a
trailblazing piece of American real estate marketing history.
The
recognition reflected more than a single publication—it represented the spirit
of innovation that has defined United Country for a century. As we celebrate
100 years of service, we’re proud to carry forward that same pioneering mindset
into the future.
A lot has
changed since the 1980’s, but our mission remains the same. Take a drive
through 100 years of United Country memories at UnitedCountry.com.
